My Hero Academia's chapter #422, published in issue #24 of Weekly Shōnen Jump, was titled "Izuku Midoriya Rising" and showed how all the heroes created a path for Deku to reach All for One. Chapter #422 was an emotional ride for all the fans and has been confirmed by the official My Hero Academia's X account to be “the super super super super super super super super super climax of the final battle.”

This confirms that the battle of Deku with AFO is in its final stage, which has fans wondering exactly when My Hero Academia will end. There are enough clues, at the moment, to make an accurate prediction of when the emotional final chapter of the series will drop.

When Will My Hero Academia End? Here Is The Answer (2)

With the latest story development and the confirmation that the final battle has finally reached its climax, it is safe to say that Deku’s journey is ending really soon. MHA chapter #422 marks the end of volume 41, and taking into account the recent volumes, which had between 10 and 12 chapters each, volume 42 is expected to be the last volume of My Hero Academia. This sets the end of the manga around chapter #434.

Considering the number of Horikoshi’s breaks this past year, and the number of chapters left, it is possible that the end of My Hero Academia will be in the fall of this year. This aligns with Horikoshi's statement during Jump Festa 2024 covered by Oricon News:

If it's still running at next year's Jump Festa, I promise to host a prostration festival on stage, so I encourage everyone to apply. - Kohei Horikoshi

In his letter, Horikoshi jokingly said that My Hero Academia was expected to end before Jump Festa 2025, which will take place in mid-December 2024, confirming he has plans to end the manga before then. Horikoshi also admitted that there are still many scenes he wants to draw beyond the final battle.

What Should Be Expected of My Hero Academia Ending?

The First Line of the Series Revealed how My Hero Academia Will End

There are still mysteries to address before the MHA's end, such as what will happen to Deku's quirk and how hero society will change for the better. Although it is highly unlikely that Horikoshi will make an entire volume to give an ending to all the characters, which still keeps the predicted volume 42 as the last, the final volume of the manga could probably be bigger with 15 chapters, which should be enough to give the story a satisfying ending. Also, extra chapters or a spin-off could complement the stories of the different characters.

After the end of the battle with AFO, the last chapters should cover the aftermath of the war, followed by an epilogue with a time skip that shows all the Class 1-A students as adults, proving that they have, in fact, become "the greatest heroes," just like My Hero Academia'ss very first line stated, which gives a round ending to the story. However, as nothing is certain, there's also a chance that the manga will not conclude so soon, but Horikoshi has made it his intention to end My Hero Academia this year, which is what fans should expect.
