Today has been a momentous day of sorts. Tickets have gone on sale for my play ‘Scones with Nanna’. It has been a long process, but we are nearly there. 'Scones With Nanna' is a site-specific immersive play performed in old houses. It invites audiences into a space rich with history and nostalgia, allowing them to immerse themselves in the narrative on a more intimate level. The story travels through 100 years in time while Nanna descends into the shrinking world of dementia. It maps an important time in Western Australia’s history and explores themes of cultural identity, truth telling, and wicked humour in the face of adversity. While Nanna makes scones for her granddaughters her story unfolds. We have three fine actors to play the parts of Nanna and her two granddaughters. They are Elizabeth Narkle, Shinade Mourambine, and Julianna ThomasIt will be performed in Bridgetown, York and Fremantle. Tickets are limited due to the size of the venues and style of performance. •If you would like to buy tickets to the Fremantle performances at the Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre on Friday 27 September and Saturday 28th Sept, please go to https://lnkd.in/gxVbt37X •If you would like to buy tickets to the Bridgetown performances on the Tue 17th Sep 2024, 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm AWST,please go to https://lnkd.in/gtJvxxM7 •If you would like to buy tickets to the York performances at the Old Bank on 147 Avon Tce, Please go to the York Festival site to purchase tickets that are being sold as part of a weekend or day pass to the festival @ https://lnkd.in/gU82et3n

Great advice. The book 'Engineers of the Imagination' by Welfare State UK tell us that any message in spectacle theatre should be passed on within something like a 21 second timeframe, as if someone was sitting on the top of an open decked london bus that is stopped at a traffic light. Anything that takes longer than that to impart a message will fail. This takes us back to the KISS theory. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

I am looking for three women and a man to work on a creative development of a play, later this year, as actors. The roles that you are needed for are the following characters: An elderly woman with early signs of dementia, (Women of Ballardong Noongar descent are encouraged to apply); a 22 year old pregnant woman; a fourteen year old student - who returns later as a 50 year old and an older male who can do good Scottish and Australian accents (multiple roles). While it is important that the older woman is of Noongar descent and preferably Ballardong Noongar, the other women, while it is preferable, do not have to be.The work is an honest and humorous look at a family's secrets and contains a considerable amount of swearing. It is paid work. Proof of Vaccination is required in keeping with WA government direction. If you are interested please get in touch with me by PM and send your biography. Thanks

Have a look at this. The 14-minute video premiered at the online ASSITEJ World Congress/ MIRAI Festival in March 2021, presenting Australia’s theatre for young audiences and youth arts sector to international delegates. It was screened again in May 2021 at NEIGHBOURHOOD, the first of five Australian Theatre Forum 2021 events, held in partnership with Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) and DreamBIG Children’s Festival. We are grateful for the support of the Australia Council for the Arts for making the project a reality.https://lnkd.in/evgRXZY

Tomorrow is my birthday! Instead of buying me expensive wine, luxury cruises, awesome chocolates and fast cars please donate to this cause. This work has been invited to the international puppetry festival OFF in Charleville Mezieres, France 2019 and we need a bit of help. While we may not reach our target, every little bit helps. And it helps get the story of the mighty Fitzroy River the Mardoowarra out to the world.
